Waldo Ceunen
Co-Principal Flute of the Philharmonic Orchestra Hansestadt Lübeck
Waldo Ceunen was born in Beringen, Belgium, where he started flute lessons at the age of 9 in the local music school. He studied with Carlos Bruneel in Brussels, with Jürgen Franz in Hamburg, and with Wally Hase in Weimar. His first orchestra experiences he made as an intern at the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, followed by a temporary contract with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Since 2008 he is the co-principal flutist of the “Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lübeck”. He has also appeared with the NDR-Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and the Symphony Orchestra of “La Monnaie” Brussels. Since 2011 he is teaching at the Academy of the Hamburger Konservatorium.
