Today's Custom Powell flutes come with the traditions that began in 1927 plus the latest innovations. One of the most famous flutes in the world, is Powell #365 – a platinum flute made for the 1939 World’s Fair. The instrument was purchased by William Kincaid and was his primary instrument throughout his career. In 1986, it was sold at a Christie’s auction for $187,000 and was formerly on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
