Maxence Larrieu is one of the best representatives of the school of French flutes. In 1951, he won his first prize at the age of 16 at the Paris Conservatory, and then in 1953, he won first prize in chamber music. Later he received le Prix international de Genève. Larrieu then pursued his career as an international soloist. He played his first solo with the Paris Opera. He then quit his job to take classes at the conservatory in Geneva. Mr. Larrieu recorded hundreds of CDs on the Phillips, Denon, Decca and EMI labels and received thirteen grand prizes for his recordings. Some of these recordings featured his solo performances with the Munich, Cologne, Monte Carlo, and Prague orchestras. Mr. Larrieu performs regularly in Japan, Korea, Europe and around the world.
